How do I hear the voice of God?

How do you know your mother’s voice? Or your sibling’s or best-friend’s voice? You know their voice because you know them. God and His Word are one (John 1:1). So the way to get to know God is to know His word. We believe the word of God is literally the voice of God. Over time, the more you study is Word and spend quality time with him, the more His voice will be familiar to you.  My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me –John 10:27

When can I date?

What’s most important is not when you start dating, but why? Before you consider ‘dating’ or starting a relationship with a member of the opposite sex, consider your motive for wanting to. We as Christians believe that the purpose of dating is to lead to a life-partnership (marriage), hence our advice is if you’re not ready for the relationship to potentially lead to that, then you’re not ready to date! Its also helpful to consider where you are financially, emotionally and spiritually.

How do I live right as Christian young person?

Again, let the Word of God be your measure. The world we live in now holds constant temptations to compromise: drinking, smoking, swearing, sex etc. But we are new creations in Christ Jesus, we live in this world but we are not of this world. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things- Philippians 4:8

Is it important to have Christian friends?

Heard of the saying ‘Birds of a Feather Flock together’? Well, the Bible tells it like this: He who walks with wise men shall be wise but the companion of fools shall be destroyed. Your friends’ character will rub off on you; just ask Amnon (I Samuel 13:1-22) Ask yourself this: Is the person encouraging me to grow in the things of God? If not and they are a very close friend, consider whether you can continue to walk together if you do not agree (Amos 3:3)  Bad morals corrupt good character, but Christian friends should challenge you to get close to God!

Is it ok to go clubbing/Raving?

As a young Christian you should always ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”
Now it doesn't have as one the commandments 'Thou shalt not rave/club' but remember you carry the Holy Spirit of God within you, wherever you go- HE GOES. Clubbing is an activity of the world and we are supposed to be a peculiar people, set apart and different.

Can I date non- Christians?

Quite simply, NO. 2Corinthians 6:14: "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what
do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?" (NIV). Its not that non-Christians are bad people, however dating and marrying someone who is of a different faith or has no faith in your God is another kettle of fish. Marriage is a union of two persons and how can you unite with anyone who does not accept your God. You simply will not be in agreement, so save yourself the heartache. Also submit your dating relationships to your pastors and/or leaders. There is WISDOM in a multitude of counsel.

What was I born to do?

We have heard this question so many times. First of all know that you were born for a reason and a purpose, don't believe us? See Jeremiah 29:11. There are the basic things that we should all be doing as young Christians in addition to getting an education, such as evangelising, loving God with all our heart soul and body, getting to know HIM more, loving people, doing His Word etc. But God has given us all different gifts and talents to be used for his glory. There is usually something that you do so well and you just love doing it. Who do you think gave you that gift? God! He said that your steps are ordered, so keep your ears close to him and HE will show you. You were born for greatness, so SHINE!!!
