Ushering Team

Ade OgunsanyaNicky TellaThe ushers are a vibrant team of men and women who ensure that order and structure is maintained during church services. The ushering team celebrates diversity and embraces every one regardless of their age, colour, sex or culture.

The team currently has 64 active members of male and female workers. We arrive on Sunday morning at 8.30am and are always ready to serve.

Our vision is to foster excellence in all that we do and to grow a team of passionate, energetic, disciplined workers who have a sense of ownership and belonging.

Our duties include:

  • Welcoming and greeting visitors and members into the church
  • General cleaning of the auditorium
  • We prepare and serve communion
  • We make ourselves visible by having a weekly dress code/uniformed colour. This enables congregation members to clearly identify us if help is required
  • We provide support for parents with push chairs and buggies by meeting them as they arrive and we offer to carry their baby carrier/pushchair.
  • We provide allocated seats for parents and this allows for parents to move freely with minimal disruption if the need arises.
  • We ensure the environment is welcoming and safe for our young and older members
  • We make an extra effort to provide appropriate chairs to expectant mothers or the elderly members and offer water when required.
  • During adverse weather conditions our mighty male ushers meet and greet the congregation members using umbrellas to protect them from the rain.

As a team we are committed to:

  • Serving with a sincere heart, being genuine and compassionate
  • Being punctual
  • Attending weekly team building sessions
  • Attending mentoring classes on Sunday mornings
  • Attending bible study/ workers prayer meeting
  • Actively being involved in the weekly fasting and prayer
  • Attending regular Monday prayer meeting.
